What is beef tallow?

Beef tallow is purified animal fat, rich in vitamins A, D, E, & K and essential fatty acids including Omega-3 & Omega-6. It closely mimics the skin’s natural oils, making it incredibly nourishing, hydrating, and healing for all skin types.

Which countries are your ingredients from?

At Kiyome, every ingredient is intentionally sourced for its purity and skin benefits:

Beef Tallow from Kobe, Japan: rich, nutrient-dense, and ethically sourced

Why Japanese tallow and not NZ?

New Zealand tallow isn’t bad - but Kobe, Japan offers higher purity, better consistency, and stricter quality control. Their cattle are grass-fed, stress-free, and produce nutrient-rich fat that's ideal for skincare. We chose what’s best for your skin, even if it’s not the easiest to source.

Is your tallow really from grass-fed cattle?

Yes. Our tallow comes exclusively from grass-fed cattle, meaning the animals are pasture-raised and fed a natural grass diet—free from grains, hormones, or synthetic additives. We source our tallow from Japanese cattle, known for their clean, high-quality fat profiles that are ideal for skincare.

Is Kiyome suitable for sensitive or acne-prone skin?

Absolutely. Our formula is non-comedogenic, anti-inflammatory, and free from synthetic irritants.

It closely matches the structure of human sebum, so it absorbs easily without clogging pores.

Kiyome is especially effective for dryness, eczema, acne, redness, irritation, and barrier repair.

Our formulation is gentle, free from essential oils, and safe for all ages including infants with dry or irritated skin.

What does it smell like?

Kiyome has a subtle, natural, and earthy scent from the tallow and honey. No synthetic fragrance is added.

Is it cruelty-free and ethically made?

Yes. We never test on animals, and our tallow is up-cycled from cattle already raised for food, and from suet (fat) which would otherwise be wasted.
